Jan 08, 2016 · The idle air control valve is programmed to regulate and maintain the engine idle speed at a constant rate. The Importance of Correct Fuel Pressure. In short, the correct fuel pressure (air to fuel ratio) helps your vehicle run as efficiently as possible. When your vehicle is operating at optimal fuel pressure levels, both power and fuel economy are maximized. If fuel pressure is too high, your vehicle’s engine could be over fueled, leading to many. As a Rule of Thumb, fuel pressure changes 1 psi for each 2 in/hg of vacuum. So a change of 3 psi - 40 psi Vs 37 psi - doesn't square. 37 psi could be fine, but with vacuum removed from the regulator the pressure should be more like 44 psi or more, which would also put the pressure within the 41-47 range. The fuel pressure regulator may be operating at too low of a pressure and might need to be replaced. The Ignition timing might be in need of adjusting. ... And what is the normal idle speed? Mercruiser 2002 350 MAG MPI I got the boat back and ran a fuel pressure test from the shrader valve on the fuel rail with the following results:. Proper fuel pressure is vital for engine operation and performance. Low fuel pressure results in a lack of horsepower, stalling, and a slow or no-start condition. A kink in the fuel return line results in higher than normal fuel pressure at the rail. High fuel pressure results in a rich air-fuel ratio because the increase in pressure forces .... Fuel pressure will vary according to manifold vacuum or pressure. If you have a base fuel pressure of 39 PSI (stock for our cars) then don't expect to see around 40 PSI idling. Idling you'll be at approximately 15 ~ 20 inches of vacuum which means fuel pressure must drop by 15 ~ 20 PSI to maintain the correct pressure drop across your injectors. 37. Apr 16, 2014. 0. The oil pressure specification for your engine is 13 PSI at idle hot, 37 to 75 PSI at engine RPM higher than 1600. I suspect your oil pressure gauge sender unit or gauge is inaccurate. I would have a known accurate mechanical oil pressure gauge temporarily screwed into the present oil sender unit to verify actual pressure. The ideal oil pressure ranges between 25 to 65 psi when the engine oil is warm and at 1000-3000 rpm, whereas if the oil pressure reading shows 80 psi or above when the engine is warm, then there is a serious problem. This is, of course, depending on what engine you have and how worn the engine is. Could be a bad oil pump. Also check the oil temp. Proper fuel pressure is vital for engine operation and performance.
